30. Obsessed with leopard print.

You’ve probably already noticed this by now, but I’m pretty much in love with leopard print.  I mean, not the in-your-face-head-to-toe love, more like the subtle hint kind of love.

Case in point:

29. Comfy casual.

Sometimes, I just really don’t feel like getting out of bed and putting on a cute outfit.  I just don’t!  I honestly would wear my fleece Spongebob pajama pants all day long if it was appropriate.  Fah reals.  I obviously can’t do that for my job without sacrificing my dignity, so I usually settle for something that’s still almost as comfortable.  Thankfully, I work in a pretty casual dress environment.

Cue today’s look:

Effortless and comfortable, without looking too frumpy.  I also did super simple makeup: just a little mascara and blush.  Oh, and I filled in my eyebrows a bit.  Good eyebrows are my passion.

Here’s a list of everything with links!

There you have it.  Simple, comfortable, and yet still put together.  Sort of.  Almost.

28. Fall is here!

I enjoy the summertime, especially since my birthday is at the end of July.  Honestly, though, I’ve grown to LOVE the fall.  Hot apple cider (with or without a little kick of rum), brisk air, sweaters, falling leaves, and pumpkins?  Yes, please!  I think it has to do with all the cute layering I can do.  Plus, boots.  I don’t think I need another reason other than boots, right?

One great fall fashion staple is the blazer, which can be dressed up or down depending on your mood or where you’re headed.  I own blazers in gray, black, and most recently camel (which will be making an appearance soon).

Here’s an outfit I wore a few weeks ago.  I teach a chemistry lab one night a week at a local college, and this is what I put together for the first session of the semester.

I really like the subtle mixing of prints at the sleeves.

27. Yet another reason I love the thrift store.

I finally found two wardrobe staples I’ve been looking for!  A pair of rain boots and a pair of black riding boots.  Both at the thrift store.  Both for $10 (i.e. $5 per pair).  I am a super happy girl right now!

The rain boots I got are just plain black.  I don’t feel like I really need to show you a photo of the actual pair, but they look strikingly similar to the “Matilde” rain boots by Loeffler Randall.

I think $5 is a pretty awesome price considering boots like these go for $195!

The second pair of boots I got are actually still available on the Kohl’s website.  The are on clearance for just under $26, but the original price was $84.99.  Again, a pretty good deal considering I only paid $5 and the pair I scored still looks brand new.

I also bought a few new tops, but I’ll save those for another post (or two).

Now, to get back to my X-Files marathon…

Gabby

26. Twenty fashion rules…to break!

This article was posted back in January, but I really love it and wanted to share just in case you missed it. 🙂

White after Labor Day?  Do it.  Spend a ton of money for quality?  Not necessary.

Really great advice overall.

I hope you are all having a great Monday!

25. What I wore to Pridefest.

gabriella k singing

A few weekends ago, I had the opportunity to perform with my dear friend Lex Allen during Pridefest at the Summerfest grounds here in Milwaukee.  It was so much fun!  (On a side note, if you like R&B/funk/soul, check him out…he is a talented artist!  http://www.facebook.com/TheOfficialLex)

The grounds are pretty big, and I knew we would have to park pretty far away if we didn’t want to pay the $10 to park on site.  Sadly, that meant heels were out!  I think the outfit I came up with was perfect anyway.

As you can tell, I fill this dress out quite a bit more than the model.  Baby got back, yo.  I like it better more fitted anyway.  What do you think?

Have a great week!

24. My latest thrift store finds.

I usually deposit my husband’s checks since he works from home, and there just happens to be a Goodwill right next to our credit union.  I just can’t help myself.

I stopped in yesterday and found some really great pieces.

Here they are!

23. Springtime sweater weather.

It got so chilly again last week!  I bought SWEATERS at Target…and I actually wore them.  Luckily, the weather has warmed up considerably and it’s gorgeous outside today!

I bought two sweaters in the clearance section at Target a few days ago, one for $7 and one for $9.  Surprisingly, they are NOT marked down on the website; if you want to score some nice sweaters for next fall/winter, I’d suggest you look in store first!

22. Three outfits, one post.

I totally forgot to take photos of a few of my outfits this week.  I did, however, make some cute little diagrams for you!

And that brings us up to today’s outfit.  I was incredibly tired today…definitely due to tossing and turning all night and not getting much sleep.  I had to present data at a large joint lab meeting today, and I was super nervous about it!  I did fine, and my boss told me I did a nice job.  Sometimes it’s just so nice to get affirmation!

21. Casual outfit for Mother’s Day.

Unfortunately, my mom had to work on Mother’s Day (although we did make time to stop and see her on Saturday night and give her a gift).  However, my mother-in-law was free, so we spent some time sitting on her porch on Sunday afternoon.  The weather was gorgeous that day!

I put together a really simple outfit for the occasion.

Cream crocheted sweater – Mudd (thrifted @ Goodwill)
Oatmeal tank – Target*
Olive chinos – Forever 21*
Nude patent flats (w/ handmade bow clips) – ZOOSHOO*
Gold leaves statement necklace – eBay

Here’s a close up of my necklace for detail:

You should remember that sweater from a Goodwill haul I featured a few weeks ago.  I seriously love it; it’s the perfect spring sweater.  I also linked to a tutorial for the handmade bow clips.  They are unbelievably easy to make!

Well, that’s all I have for today.  Make sure to check back soon for my next outfit! 🙂
